Happy Halloween!

Check out the fabulous time we had on Halloween in second grade!!!  Thank you Mrs. Jovic for capturing us on this special day.  We could hardly contain our excitement all day long waiting for the parade and party to begin in the afternoon.

After lunch we all climbed into our costumes and got ready for the Doherty Halloween Parade!

Back in the room had so many fun festivities to participate in! We made a yummy cupcake!

We made a cool Halloween bookmark to take home and use during all the reading I make them do EVERY NIGHT!!!  (Except on Halloween night).

We even got fun Halloween tattoos!

Thanks so all our volunteers for helping out during the party and planning such a fun event for the class.  They really appreciate all you do for them.

Just hanging out a little waiting for school to be over and TRICK-OR-TREATING to begin!  "Is it time to go home yet?"

Look Who's Hang'n Around Outside Our Classroom

YEP!!!  That's right!!!  We won SPLASH!  We found Splash taking a little jump over our doorway bright and early this morning.  We were the most well behaved class at lunch and specials for the entire week!  GO US!!!

Tigers Make it to the World Series

Can you believe it?!?!?!  The Tiger's are in the WORLD SERIES!!!!  To support our Tigers and cheer them on, we had a pep rally at Doherty to rev us up for tonight's first World Series game.

Our class helped make the decorations for the gym.  We made posters and pennants.  What do you think???  Cool, huh?

GO TIGERS!!!!

Mr. Germanski and Mrs. Abeska did a WONDERFUL job planning such a fun event for the school!

It was REALLY LOUD when we were cheering, lol!

One of the events was a relay race.  Each team had to put on full baseball gear and run to the other side of the gym...then take it all off and the next teacher had to put it all on.  Mrs. Hammerick's team WON!!!

How do I look?  I'm ready for my next piece of baseball clothing!

Another event was the trivia contest.  Daniel was voted to be the representative for our class.  He did a great job...I didn't even know the answers to some of the questions!

Another relay race with students!  No one from our class participated, but it was really fun to watch!

The teachers participated in a bubble gum blowing contest.  Any ideas who you think won?  It was Mrs. Mustapha!!!  She blew the biggest bubble.

Go Mrs. Mustapha!!!

And finally....the best part of the whole assembly!  The three winners of the trivia contest were awarded with their prize...a BIG fresh pie to throw in a teacher's FACE!!!

Mrs. Halpin coming in with the pies.

Watch out Mrs. Funk....here's it comes!

Mr. Palazzolo really liked his pie.

What a fun event!!!  Go TIGERS!!!  Beat San Francisco!!!  What a fun event to be a part of!

There Was An Old Lady...

Mrs. Abeska is having a contest in the media center this month.  Each class decorated a pumpkin as a story book character.  Our class came up with lots of character ideas such as, Mrs. Green from the Black Lagoon, Junie B. Jones, Horrible Harry, Froggy and Amelia Bedelia.  However, I thought the one that would be most fitting on our pumpkin was THE OLD LADY WHO SWALLOWED A FLY.  Everyone knows the story There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, and as soon as Trenton came up with the idea, I immediately decided our pumpkin would resemble her.

Our pumpkin would not be as cool if it weren't for a few families in our classroom. Thanks Mrs. Pranis for donating a GIANT pumpkin for us to use.  Thanks Mrs. Cervelli for carving our huge pumpkin and doing all the dirty work of cleaning it out.  Greta and her family took our pumpkin home for a night and spray painted it black for the Old Lady's dress.

I had so much fun putting our pumpkin together!  The kids each helped in the creation of an animal the Old Lady swallowed in their table groups.  Isn't she sooooo cool?!?!?

Our pumpkin is now residing in the media center.  Be sure to stop by and take a look!  You can't miss her!
